This site does an admirable job of shining the spotlight on underground, obscure, and "extreme" music. In a world where America's programmed sheep blind their eyes, cover their ears, and settle into the easy lifestyle of sucking at the teat of packaged formulas like American Idol, anyone providing a forum in which some left-of-center media can be appreciated and promoted should be lauded with as much praise as possible.
Like most underground efforts, the page layout of www.tangento.net is fairly simple, making for easy and clear navigation. Not only can you read comprehensive features on underground favorites such as GWAR, VOIVOD, MR. BUNGLE, and THE GREAT KAT, there is even a section where you can read about many classical music composers, both known and obscure. It's refreshing to see a site the actually acknowledges a world outside of rock music, (not that there's a shortage of rock on tangento, far from it!) There are two "must see" featuresWhile this page is a great resource, it's disappointing to see that it gets updated so infrequently. The last update in the news section was from September '06. It's clear that this site is a labor of love, so it's likely that the page is updated as much as the day job allows. Still, there is plenty of content on here to ensure hours of entertaining surfing.
