Punkturns30.com: Fans of old school punk (and who isn't?) should check out this great site. It features an extensive archive of photos showcasing the history of the genre. This site is the brainchild of rock photographer Theresa Kereakes, who has been professionally documenting the world of punk since its inception. Her work has appeared in all the big rags, like Creem, Rolling Stone, and Playboy.

The obvious heroes are featured prominently (IGGY AND THE STOOGES, THE RAMONES, SEX PISTOLS, BLONDIE, etc…) alongside some of the lesser-known architects of the genre. For example, recent updates include photos and historical info about THE DICKIES, and THE WILDCATS. Not only does the site feature great photos of all the artists in their prime, doing what they do best, but it also features insightful and well-written commentary with each new journal entry, placing each subject in the proper historical context.

Just when you thought that everything that could possibly be written about the subject was covered long ago, Theresa's personal reminiscences really provide a fresh perspective. With a couple years worth of updates archived, there is plenty of content to sift through for all those interested.

The site is set up as one of those ever-popular blogs, so the navigation and design will no doubt be both familiar and easy to the average web-surfer. There's also a huge section of links for all sorts of punk-related material on the web, including online stores and other resources for those interested in seeking out underground rock n' roll.

Punkturns30.com, like many sites of its type, is an obvious labor of love, and is worthy of your attention. Even casual fans with a passing interest in the genre would find something to enjoy about the site.
