I slammed the hell out of this on first listen but decided to smoke some fine trees and give it another whirl. I'll be damned! This is pretty interesting. I still say guys who work at Guitar Center who worship Satriani will love it more than I ever will, but I may be tempted to spin this lil' thing again. Off note : I thought the Japanese were the last of the 3" cd cult. Guess not. So I think it's time we dissect this thing and get down to the music (since they left the vocals at home).
Reminds me of KEELHAUL from Clevo (See : very heavy instrumental stuff that alternates between CRAW styled stuff and a heavier almost NEUROSIS feel) doing improv jazz ala MAN IS THE BASTARD minus the vocals. So if you like any of the previously mentioned bands you will dig this. I found the 8 min. track a stretch too long, but at the same time it went by like a short song should. That kind of stuff gets hard to share with people when it comes down to "Hang on man! There's this kick ass part at 5:06!" and everyone rolls their eyes.
It's only two tunes but I kinda feel like it shoulda been three to avoid the above-mentioned calamity. It went down smooth enough and with my mind expanded to proper levels it was enjoyable. Not my usual beer drinking, rowdy flavor but much like all the other bands I mentioned, something you kinda need to have in your collection for those "elevated" moments. I bet these dudes stay that way like all the time, thinking of the newest way to turn a Sun Ra freakout into a metal masterpiece.
