  • Has everybody heard about the bird?

  • "One Bird, Two Stones" is the second release from this Texas trio, after 2001's "Into The Sun" witch (sic) established the band's reputation with heavy southern rock mavens. These guys have got this shit down brutha! SKYNYRD, ZZ TOP, even some BLACK CROWES--its all here, in a no-nonsense fashion that kicks ass. The difference is that for all the run-of the mill stuff out there, the musicianship here really stands out. Clayton's guitar can slide with the best (see the last track "Traveler"), but his soloing could be on any stoner or even thrash track, that is to say it is a bit more speedy and chaotic sometimes, giving the overall sound more depth. Trinidad's off-the-street vocal approach fits like a glove around C.C.'s driving bass lines. The record was done in only 7 days, with Jefferson D. Pinkus at the knobs (BUTTHOLE SURFERS/HONKY). "One Bird, Two Stones" should feel right at home alongside all that ZZ TOP, HAMMERLOCK, and THE FOUR HORSEMEN, but don't expect it to be there long! It'll be in your disc player constantly!! Remember, anything rock that has "Dixie" in the title has to be good. These guys have the balls to make it great!
