Let's see. It's on Hardcore Holocaust and it's from Sweden. Smells like Discloning! I am right! ÄÄRITILA play hard and heavy DISCHARGE-styled hardcore, and it's pretty damn good! At least it has some feeling to it unlike the first DISFEAR attempts! Plus, they get points for not using the DISCHARGE font or starting your band name with “DIS” or ending it in “CHARGE”. Some people think I'm joking, but I could seriously name off 30 bands guilty of this. Musically, if you miss that old-styled hardcore punk from the 80s when people couldn't get enough songs about nuclear war and politicians and the approaching apocalypse, then this is for you!
The track called “Aika” has a touch of TOTAL FURY (The Yugo one! Not the Japanese one!) with maybe some Finnish influence ala TERVEET KADET. Man, this disc is getting better and better by the minute. I'm not a huge fan of this style of hardcore punk but it's done really well and has a lot of spirit. It does what all good hardcore punk of the era should-- makes me wanna dig out the classics! Ahh yes, even some of that great wailing guitar! A bit of MOTÖRHEAD in there as well. This is the best hardcore from Sweden I've heard since DEMON SYSTEM 13 (but they were more USHC sounding) and EPILEPTIC TERROR ATTACK (again US sounding).
The one called "Aiti Maa, Isa Taivas" is a direct lift of a great song and I can't think of who it is. It's killing me! I keep going back to it and thinking about it. It will come to me tonight sometime when I'm ready to pass out. I’ll bet someone at the show we're playing tonight will know. I'm actually going to tell people to buy this. I think that really says it all. My only gripe is the guitar is too low-tuned for this music or it's being buried by the bass, plus the disc is a tad long. But it's still a great album, so quit readin' my rambles and buy it already.
