This CD demands to be reviewed song by song, because each is different. I was very impressed by their ability to blend styles but stay cohesive. All in all, it reminded me of a metal version of CLOCKCLEANER for some reason. I can see the two bands playing together but not getting along. But by the end of the night, after everyone has seen Sharky's balls, maybe they'd come to an understanding.
"Dead Puppies" took me a while. It's a swamp gas sludge ride through the usual bogs.
"Corvus Corax" reminded me of "Hungry Child" from crossover-era COC with galloping bass lines. Very impressive.
"Weapon Of Choice" comes on with this almost "God Of Thunder" on-speed riff but then goes into this THRALL jam. You know, ranting about something thru a vacuum cleaner hose in a closet over a locking, meshing groove.
"Ambulanced" almost reminded me of a less spaced-out version of CHROME. Very Amphetamine Reptile-sounding.
"Meaty" makes me think of Sub Pop records in the late 80's/early 90's; poppy yet metallic and fuzzed out. Think first NIRVANA album, early MUDHONEY, that sort of thing. The vocals match up to that style - dejected and bored.
"Garbo" starts out with art school beat box drums and kicks into a wicked MELVINS-meets-UNSANE smashing-shit-up groove but with vocals a la NOOTHGRUSH.
"Bunnyboy" comes on like a heavy alt rock tune where you're just counting on a huge hooky break into the song after the intro. Unfortunately, it's just an instrumental.
"Heartattacker" starts like a buzz saw and then settles into a mid tempo sludgy fretboard work out. This was the disappointer along with "Dead Puppies". They just did very little for me in contrast with the other work of this band.
