  • Spiritual keggers?

  • The fact that Dead Beat’s bio in the “For fans of...” section has these guys compared to like 20 other bands (of which I’ve only heard of like 5 – THE GORIES, THE OBLIVIANS, REATARDS, KING KHAN and SPACESHITS) matters not a lot when I notice one of the guitarists stage name for this group is Zach Butz. Now how cool is that? If that ain’t rock ‘n’ roll I don’t know what is. This disc lives up to that. The immediate appeal of opening tunes “Next In Line” and “Black Hole Control” has me hooked. As does the 40 seconds of the country tinged “Can Of Beans”, the twelve-string twang of “White Red White”, “Son Of A Carnivore” that has got the killer harmonica part and pretty much the record as a whole. The fact that I’m done with my forth listen of this may have as much to do with it’s length (12 tunes in 23 minutes) as much as it's fun appeal.“Magnetic Problems” should be renamed “Magnetic Party”. I picture seeing this band live at a house party with enough keg action to…well you get the idea.
