  • Defying categorization.

  • Surprises abound upon hearing the opening track of FRANTIC BLEEP's debut, which centers around a jaw-dropping buildup of atmospheric metal vocals. It's followed by a curious change at the end of the introduction as the band rips into the second track with a more techy-metal sound. Each track is steeped in variety, moving from a deep, heavy, trashy, death sound to an ambient, relaxed tone (crafted with some subtle tweaks from the band's keyboard player) in the blink of an eye.

The make up of FRANTIC BLEEP is a bit variable. From what I can work out they are essentially a three-piece, consisting of a guitarist who also plays keyboard, and drummer and a full-time guitarist. They are joined by a bass player / vocalist, Paul Mozart Bjorke, for this studio work. For "The Sense Apparatus", the band is joined by three guest vocalists who perform various singing duties throughout the album. It's quite an unusual approach, and consequently a difficult sound to pigeonhole. Progressive goth-death metal with a twist maybe? Ah, fuck the genre stereotypes! I think most heavy music fans would find a thing or two on this album to dig. FRANTIC BLEEP have found a niche for themselves, allowing them to show originality and creativity while staying accessible to the average metal fan. The production is first class. Even the CD cover is unique, positioning the lyrics to the songs labeling certain parts of schematic medical diagrams. If you're looking for something heavy, interesting and off the beaten paty, look no further than FRANTIC BLEEP.
