  • "How to write record reviews while semi conscious" is a book I will someday write. I feel like the blues, just down and out today and as well-worn as my favorite records. My whole body hums with a weird floating feeling where I can see what I'm doing and fully aware of it all but the feeling is detached. Maybe it's having car troubles again or booking season beginning. Maybe it's the death of Pig Champion which has deeply affected me for some reason. Who knows? I'm just wiped out today and have been for days, distraught and agonized over nothing in particular. Regardless, you did not click the link to listen to me complain.

This is a modernized thrashathon of Metal Blade circa '86 proportions. The vocals reek of the heavy end o' the NWOBHM gene pool but the metal is strictly classic powerful thrash that I found to be more than satisfactory. I really liked it when I first listened, but, rather than grow on me it kind of lulled. I still listened more than a few times but then I developed some severe anxiety over looming deadlines for this, that, and the third and it fell to the wayside. I suppose if you don't like to overload yourself with more work than any person should take on and actually listen to music outside of your car while sober this will be a big hit. I really think, once again, people that liked the titans of mid 80's thrash metal will dig this jazz. I certainly found it as exciting as the new copy I got of EXCREMENT OF WAR's"Cathode Ray Coma" cd that I haven't had in years and I was very excited to hear that again.

I'm not going to waste your time with "It sounds like". Instead I will say that if you have ever owned a denim vest that you spent hours sewing embroidered patches of bands with mildly satanic or misspelled (in a cool way) names, you will dig this. People who did the same with all the "initial bands" will dig it as well methinks. It's not as much of a throwback as your MUNICIPAL WASTE type bands but you will like it. I'm very picky about metal and I think I make some great picks. If you agree - buy this. Above all, keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars, dicks.
