  • It's easy to make fun of Finnish old school metallers HEATHEN HOOF. According to the (handwritten) info sheet their singer is called 'Unholy Geezer'. He sings hilariously funny lines like "Satan's smell of sulphur surrounds me" and "The occult excites me" with a very odd, snarly voice. Kind of like that dude from the ENGLISH DOGS' asthmatic cousin. Still, the NWOBHM-styled riffage on this 4-track EP is a bit too convincing to dismiss 'em as camp. The choruses are of the fist-in-the-air-singalong-type and the great guitar harmony part in closing track "F.V.O.D." (that's short for 'Finnish Vikings Of Death') really does take me back to the golden days of ANGEL WITHCH, BLITZKRIEG, WITCHFINDER GENERAL and CLOVEN HOOF (!!). Not exactly a classic release in the genre, but if you're a fan of the bands mentioned you should at least give it a listen.
