A couple years ago a friend of mind told me about how he saw these guys at South x Southwest in Austin, Texas. Essentially they were local and it’s not hard to tell. Any dunderhead knows that Austin has it’s lion’s share of great rock and blues artists. AMPLIFIED HEAT has got both the rawk and da blues in spades. Some describe them stoner rock but they definitely have the Fender sound on the guitars. Most stoner rock players favor Gibson Les Pauls or SGs. This definitely has the Stratocaster and Telecaster vibe. Damn, I kind of wish I could have heard these guys earlier, but I suppose that since all three of them are brothers they might be around for a while. Ya think? What are the chances of them playing South Florida at this point? Anyways, think JIMI HENDRIX with a STOOGES attitude. If this were 1990 these guys would be the reigning kings of all things grunge (I mean shit there does appear to be some similarities to MUDHONEY, GREEN RIVER, CAT BUTT and other great bands of that era). Basically it’s just good ol’ classic rock. “Dead Man Walkin” is so badass it sounds as if it were an out take from the “Electric Lady” sessions. Damn I need to get a hold of some other product from AMPLIFIED HEAT, cause I’ve played this three times today already. And it would not be the first time I burnt myself on something I really liked.
