LORDI are of course the Finnish GWAR-lookalikes that to the surprise of many won 2006's Eurovision song contest. It was certainly fun to see some people so shocked and appalled by the fact that a 'Satanic Heavy Metal band' had desecrated their beloved contest. On the other hand there were also lots of long-time Eurovision devotees who didn't see any harm in it. Which is understandable because truth be told LORDI are indeed pretty harmless. And 'Heavy Metal'? Ha! Virtually every song on "The Arockalypse" (insert groaning noise here) sounds like BON JOVI with growling vocals. Of course it's all very cool that there's contributions from people like Dee Snider, Udo Dirkschneider and Bruce Kulick and for that reason alone I wanted to like this album more than I actually do. But to be honest if it weren't for the monster suits and the Eurovision I don't think anyone would have cared about LORDI. I certainly don't.
