Bloomington, Indiana's PRIZZY PRIZZY PLEASE have created the soundtrack to a jarful of mosquitoes careening into one another. The band's super-tight blend of late 70s punk energy and nimble sax-heavy counterfeit funk is every bit as entertaining as it is peculiar.
Judging from the tight bass/drum interplay in wacky zig-zaggers like "Crackhead Drillbits" or the super hooky "Campfire Girls Week", these guys have been together a lot longer than a few months. The hyperactive collisions of jocular high-falsetto vocals, pounding drums, and smiley-face keyboards are loads of fun and insanely catchy in a BIG BOYS sort of way, even without a guitar player. So if stifling amounts of 90s PRIMUS and RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS convinced you that punk and funk do not mix, this could be the band to change your mind.
