  • Barcelona's SEVENTHATE forces the question: why does a band choose to sing in English while you can't understand a word of the vocals? A big splash in the English-speaking world seems unlikely since we don't have a clue what vocalist Xavi is singing, and that's a bad start.

Musically, the only positive aspect of the band is their enthusiasm and technical ability. The influences are the usual suspects (REFUSED, DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, CONVERGE) but they never reach the level of songwriting craft that these heroes have attained. It all sounds so sonically messy, most listeners will be desperately for something to grab and keep their attention. On top of this, jazzy intermezzos are included between the songs, which add to the confusion and sound particularly out of place.

I guess the kids who are really into collecting every scrap of mathcore / hardcore / screamo should lap this up. For me the only thing that's right about this one is the title of the album.
