  • "Too core for crust, too crust for the core." That's how Portland's FORCED MARCH describe themselves on their website. Personally, I don't see any reason to get caught up in such genre trivialities. FORCED MARCH are a brawny shoulder, smashing your already bloody nose into the foot of a rickety stage. This is fuming, raging hardcore punk played old-school style, fingers twisting out short, wailing leads with remarkable velocity and drums speeding up and slowing down to induce maximum violence among spectators. It's all self-recorded, self-produced, and the lyrics spew piss 'n vinegar all over the place.

Influences seem like the usual suspects: NEGATIVE APPROACH, a ton of obscure crust bands, and what sounds like a streak of 80s NYHC . The first minute of "Manifest Catastrophe" reminds me of "Your Mistake" by AGNOSTIC FRONT before the rhythm shifts. Fucking spectacular. It's four bucks, so start looking under the seat for pennies.
