Where the hell is Meteor City when you need them? Not that we ever needed them before, really. Sure, Jadd from SPIRITU left 'em a few months back, but that's no excuse for missing out on a band like MOONSHINE MILE. I guess these days, the bands that hit 10,000 posts on the 'ol message board get first dibs on distribution.
Well, whatever label does get their hands on this Delaware four-piece is in for a treat of mammoth metal proportions. Truth be told, we haven't had a wrought-iron slab of classy, doom-laden hard rock like this dropped in our mailbox since the days of MUSHROOM RIVER BAND. From the very first note of opener "Crossroads", powerful riffs for highway speeding tear out of the speakers, galvanized leads bounce and twist from lane to lane, and the august DIO-inspired vocals of Carey Cushing round out the whole affair. Marks of quality abound on this release, but "Snake River Jump" is a definite keeper, gliding from a searing chugs to an overpowering, doomy hooks in the blink of an eye. The six-minute fist-pumper "Illusion on High" simply soars with dark, majestic vocals and crashing cymbals. It's just what the doctor ordered for doom lunatics that can't get enough PENANCE or PALE DIVINE. So all ye stoners, sparrows, and other assorted stalkers of the dog site - check 'em out via the link below and get your heads 'round these tunes.
