  • Punk week at Peacedogman continues with this split disc. First up, Australia's punk purveyors RUPTURE provide the party. Apparently, RUPTURE singer Gus Chamber died before putting his voice to these tracks the band had already recorded. Vocal contributions are split between the very able larynx of Jeff Clayton from ANTiSEEN and "The Boss" from THE NERDS ROCK INFERNO (who happen to be the other band featured on the split.) Mr. Chamber would be proud, as RUPTURE's songs are fine examples of old-school hell-raising. The production and performances are salmonella raw, with an anger that would knock Danny Bonaduce on his ass. With song titles like "Beer and Women," "Alcoholic Abortion," and "Sodom Francisco," you clearly know the trouble that awaits you. A nifty cover of ALICE COOPER's "Long Way to Go" is included as well.

Italy's THE NERDS ROCK INFERNO close out the disc with their six songs. They are every bit as angry as RUPTURE, but sound a lot more studio polished in comparison. Their songs are also a lot longer, (one even comes close to the four minute mark!) allowing for more sonic variation. With a half-time middle section, "Terrorama" sounds almost metal! And "A Memorial Bridge to the Past" is a, gulp, slow instrumental! "The Boss" sounds much better when fronting his own band, as well. Here, his voice sounds like a combination of Tom Araya from SLAYER and Bob Mayo from WARGASM.

The RUPTURE tracks are clearly a tribute to their fallen singer, and listened to as such, their tracks are great. But the musicality that THE NERDS ROCK INFERNO brings to the table threatens to steal the show from the headliners. Still, combining these two bands makes sense, and is a worthy addition to any punk fan's collection.
