One look at the aged, would-be superstars that make up the VOODOO SIX band is sure to send one's "creepy douchebag" meter into the red. Their weathered faces coupled with the flowing locks of dyed hair speak volumes on lives misspent. And if there was any wonder as to whom the singer of this outfit is, look no further than the twinkish git with the facial make-up akin to Frank Gorshin's guest spot on the original Star Trek series standing front and center. Based purely on their visual appeal, VOODOO SIX should be deep sixed. That's the thing about books and covers, because their music is another matter entirely.
VOODOO SIX, on this single, have a knack for crafting modern sounding rock songs in the vein of masters like LED ZEP, with subtle nods to the NWOBHM. The delivery of singer Henry Rundell and the mid-tempo grooves of drummer "Grav" really drive the ZEPPELIN comparisons home. "Faith," in its refrain, claims "This song is not for sale." A refreshing sentiment to hear expressed in modern music, without a doubt. The three tracks on here are strong, and all surge with a similar intensity.
As mentioned before, this is a three song sampler of things to come from this British five-piece, and if the rest of their material is up to this level of quality, then their upcoming full-length, "First Hit For Free," will surely be something to check out. Hopefully, their photographer has some AUDIOSLAVE stock photos he/she could substitute in for them on the album jacket
