OK, this thing has been out for quite a while. But just here to let you know, ADMIRAL BROWNING is the shit. Not just any old shit, but the shit. We got that? Good. Now, with some understanding that all instrumental metal is not created equally, this is not your grandfather's SATRIANI here. This is more like your OZRIC TENTACLES, PELICAN, KING CRIMSON, and the like. In other words, it doesn't sound like music without words, it is music in it's purest form. Here we have an early tidbit: a four song EP together with no less than four live tracks recorded in and around their homeland (around the Maryland/DC/Virginia) area.

Using the word 'Progressive' is sometimes a death sentence for a band. People get turned off by that word, and move on. ADMIRAL BROWNING isn't only putting that stereotype to rest, but inventing one that gives hope for progressive bands everywhere. We're talking heavy riffage, eerie ambient interludes, killer acoustic work, and sonic glue to hold it all together. Much like a darker FUCKING CHAMPS, or a tamer 35007, AB will appeal to many.

AB has a very solid sound. Not over or under-produced, but there's warmth to their sound that is thick and gooey, so the music flows riff into break, into acoustics, into whatever comes next. You cannot peg these guys - stoner, melodic, proggy, doomy...it's all here. Song after song surprises and amazes and astounds. Fans of PLANKTON and DAREDIABLO take heed, there's a new Skipper in town.
