  • VIOLENT MINDS - "We Are Nothing" 7" EP, 2006 (Parts Unknown)
  • Nothing unique, that is.

  • Punk's not dead! I bet that's written on the walls in the band's rehearsal room. Probably with some anarchy signs here and there.

These guys like it old school and burst out 12 songs in 14 minutes. Even the production sounds like it's 1982 again, but it's really hard to tell the difference in the songs. While listening I looked at the timer and saw it was the fifth song already while thinking it was the first! Every song is on high speed, and moments of slow breaks are few and far between. There's nothing wrong with idolizing a certain period of music, but listening to VIOLENT MINDS only makes me want to break out the old stuff again. It's the same with all these new thrash bands; it's funny how much they sound like the originals but they never reach the same level.

Let's put it this way: if you're wearing Doc Martens and all the pins, adore bands like DISCHARGE and GBH, and want to have everything that's on the market go give it a shot.
