  • MOLOCH - "Moloch" EP, 2007 (Self-release)
  • Evil noise for rotting minds.

  • Take your favorite Black Sabbath record, plop it on an old 3-speed turntable, disconnect the belt from the motor and hook it up to the foot of a plague-infested turtle lumbering around in circles in its final death throes, crank up the volume and you’ll begin to get a feeling for the sound coming at me right now from the new 3-song EP by MOLOCH

Death metal, or more appropriately, rotting metal, from the U.K., MOLOCH is a monotonously dirge-paced, impossibly bass-distorted cacophony of molasses metal with the vocal spewings of a guy who sounds like he’s having his spleen surgically removed without anesthesia. There's nothing new here. Only once amongst the three tracks, "Green Pills," "Mirror Fucker," and "Epidemic," did I detect a time change, from glacial to slothful. Each song belches out the bands world view on their hatred of life, humans and funny little green pills.

While I gotta admit, at times the shear volume and the band’s steadfast determination to pummel my brain into flattened little white and grey matter cells did get my head to bob up and down, in the end, this isn’t my thing. Fans of the genre may very well label this the second coming of their tormented messiah. To me, well, I just need a bath
