  • GOVERNMENT WARNING - "Arrested" 7" EP, 2007 (Grave Mistake)
  • Six minutes in the hole.

  • While four tracks with a total duration of six minutes may not be much time to leave an impression, Richmond, VA's GOVERNMENT WARNING wastes no time in giving hardcore punk enthusiasts a sneak peak into their world. Things start on a deceptive note, because while the opening title track is a catchy mid-paced mosher, the remaining tracks are full-throttle thrashers in the spirit of CIRCLE JERKS and BAD BRAINS. Also, while vocalist Kenny isn't too keen on being intelligible or keeping in tune, guitarist Eric picks up the slack with some serviceable riffs and some rock 'n roll leads on the title track and "Killing for Fun".

On a whole, while these six minutes don't offer the next monumental moment in rock history, there are no significant flaws either, so punk fans that want something bite-sized to get the job done without some profound political banter should keep this stowed away somewhere.
