This is quite possibly the most absurd disc I‘ve had the pleasure of reviewing for some time. This is so submoronic it makes SUPERNOVA’s “Ages 3 And Up” and SIX FINGER SATELLITE’s “Machine Cuisine” look like high art. Proof in puddycheese are track titles like “Sperms Are Germs”, “Pissing On A Panda”, “Cities Suck”, “I Need a Tourguide For My Own Head”, “Subhumanist” and “She-male Godzilla”. Q.Y.D.J. consists of Jonass on vocals & “barbwire guitar”, Marcass on bass keys and Drumass on (you guessed it) drums. The meshing of early DEVOish synths and surf guitar shine through on the title track, “Ebay Ghetto” and the aforementioned “Pissing On A Panda”. Some of the vocals here call to mind early stuff by THE STRANGLERS in which bass god J.J. Burnel handled the lead parts. The band’s blend of surf, punk, and post-punk works itself. With some minor exceptions Q.Y.D.J manage to abate its tunesmith from exceeding the 2 minute mark. 18 tunes in less than 30 minutes for those of you with really short attention spans. Great stuff.
