  • Wacky, brain-melting grind at it's finest.

  • I love vinyl. The smell, the feel, the scratchy/tingy sound of it. I am so glad that the punk culture has embraced it so. I have here in my hot little hands the new split EP from NETJAJEV SOCIETY SYSTEM and Australia's infamous RUPTURE. When I threw this thing on, I had to get into my wayback machine, as I let the 80s punk guitar sounds wash over me like battery acid. NETJAJEV SS was up first, with their hardcore speed, and surf-pounding guitar, falling over lyrics sprinkled with obscenity and tongue-in-cheek humor. (Imagine DK and THE CIRCLE JERKS all rolled up and smoked with no filter). Songs like "Bladder Fucker" are instant classics in my book, even if they fall well under the two-minute range.

RUPTURE comes on, and although their songs were recorded in '97, the production makes it sound like a much earlier recording. Their approach is not vastly different than NETJAJEV's, although the pace is a tad less breakneck. Gus Chamber (R.I.P) was a legend in the scene, having recorded with everyone, including Cheech and Chong! He will be missed. The simplicity of these tunes ("I'm a Reject" has exactly 4 words, repeated over and over) make you forget the daily grind and think only of kicking someone's ass in the pit. The production here sucks splendidly, and the whole thing is over in a flash, but if you are quick you can pick up one on the 600 copies and hear lyrics like "Sterile cluster death for the bananna race".
