  • What to say about a band that has more records out and more words written about them then any in recent memory? The hype, buzz talk, and blabber almost overwhelm the music with these guys and their fans are frickin obsessed. I've read many an interview and had my fist in the air for them after reading. But I've also owned several records and some are great, some not so great. All in all, I feel like I did about the TOILET BOYS: too much hype, not enough tunes. I know, the death threats are already coming by now. But who said I was here to please you slobs?

What you got in the end is some so so rock. There are moments when I'm reminded of great bands that I've obsessed over like the DEAD BOYS or AC/DC, but, much like the hype machine, it's too slick. I liked some of their singles because they had a crunchier recording. This is just too glossy and full, and with a band like this you don't want that. I bet you could hear the bass player break wind if you listened close enough. They obviously spent a lot of time on this but I woulda liked it better if it was a bit rougher and URGENT! That's the key to good music - A SENSE OF URGENCY. They took their time with this and, as a result, the urgency just isn't there. They hit on all points but it's just kinda flat.

I'd like to say that I’m very shocked that TKO put this out. I usually love just about everything they put out but this just leaves me cold. It's kind of a drag since they put out top shelf punk, rock, etc and this is a bit of a dud. I guess if I'd never heard the band before when they were on point, I would say this is a good intro album but it's like hearing "Young, Loud, and Snotty" and then trying to listen to some band attempting to squeeze out what's left of "Sonic Reducer" out in some backwoods bar. Ahh well. Let the hate mail flow kids...
