THE ELECTRIC KISSES; Mike Frame (g/v), Sarah Frampton (b/v) and a frighteningly large amount of drummers over their six year existence hail from Seattle,USA and specialise in 'don't bore us, get to the chorus' power pop with a punky RAMONES influenced edge. Recorded in late 2005 and released September 2006 this marks the recorded debut of the band that started as a pick me up after Sarah lost her job.
The line "some of my friends are already dead, some of them just stopped living" from stand-out track "Some Of My Friends" appears to capture nicely the intentions of the band to not grow up and those juvenile ambitions abound through an eleven track nostalgia trip to the late 70s/early 80s jammed into just under 28 minutes.
Stipped down sound with jangly guitar riffs that date bate as far as CHUCK BERRY adorn opener "These Daze" whilst bratty, female anthem "I Hate Retail" would make an excellent TV commercial soundtrack and is about the right length as well at just 62 seconds. "Jaxom" brought the name of LENE LOVICH to mind for the first time since 'Lucky Number' charted and 'Spinnin' Labels' evokes THE BUZZCOCKS.
On occasion the sometimes 'whiney' female vocals can grate ("Wanna Dance" a bit and especially the "sha-na-nas" on "Something Real" but alternatively they can be aggressive, boisterous and disturbingly sexy as well! Overall the albums fun, exhuberant and simplistic rock 'n' roll but unfortunately, despite being a nice aside for half an hour, it's ultimately disposable... and they've changed drummer again since the album was released!
