  • CEPHALIC CARNAGE "Anomalies" 2005 (Relapse)
  • More twists than a corkscrew.

  • Stuffed on tacos and beer again. God, I love being a scumbag. Anyways, odd that this showed up around the same time my girl rented "White Noise". For once, Michael Keaton did not ruin a movie! Anyways, the movie is about being able to record the presence of ghosts and irony of all ironies there is a "picture" of a "ghost" on this here CD. Does Two Tub buy that jazz? Fuck NO! I am not a believer my friends. I can't say if there's an afterlife, none of us can, but I don't believe in no ghosts, boogers, spirits, haunts, etc. I didn't even like Casper the Friendly Ghost as a kid. All that aside, let's get to the musick shall we?

So I saw these fuckers years ago if I recall right. My old roommate was in a marginal grind act and their vocalist was more into the ME-TAL side of things. Went on to be in a pretty successful metal band. I always related to the kids in the band that were more into the punk side of grind, but I still went to the shows. Anyways, this band was actually pretty cool live and this disc is pretty cool. It kinda sounds like a NEUROSIS record on 100 rpm. Lotsa twists, turns, and weirdness in a way that reminds me of bands like CANDIRIA, but with enough traditional metal grind qualities to please the more straightforward types. They sent us a huge ass promo thing which I thought was kinda weak, but who am I to judge? Looks like they get lotsa positive write-ups and if I recall they used to be on a smaller label back in the day, so Relapse will be a plus for them.

I can't say I recall them being dicks (I always remember the assholes and often forget the nice folks) and this disc is good shit. I would recommend it for weeded-out grind heads and maybe even black metalists with an open mind. I could even see people into prog digging it. My only thing is, I drink too much and don't smoke enough pot to be able to dig it. Being drunk and trying to listen to this shit would be like riding the tea cups drunk. Bad, bad, business. Dark, dank, and spooky stuff right here.
