  • There might be a band named THE HORROR in every town. The band from my hometown named THE HORROR are a bunch of arrogant fucks who provide ironic, hipster "lookit me! I'm weird!" bullshit that caters to scenster douchebags. The only thing horrific about them is their attitude and personal appearance. If only there could be a battle of the bands for the right to name your band THE HORROR. In that case, this UK chapter of THE HORROR would no doubt eat all opposition alive and walk away with the title.

"The Fear, The Terror, The Horror" clocks in at twenty minutes. That's a good thing, because any longer than that would drive the suicide rate among hardcore fans through the roof. Pop culture cred must be given to the band, with song titles like "Get Your Ass to Mars," a line from that classic Paul Verhoeven celluloid classic "Total Recall" and "Who Mourns for Adonis?" one of the greatest original series Star Trek episodes ever. But most of the subject matter on this disc is of a political (if somewhat outdated) bent. To those of you still pissed off at Ronald Reagan and Maggie Thatcher, this one's for you. Production is raw, which makes sense because according to the liner notes, this one was recorded in a mere 21 hours. Performances are tight and energetic all around.

Once again, fans of the hardcore genre aren't going to be challenged in any way by this band. THE HORROR aren't trying to reinvent the wheel, they just want to destroy it.
