Two songs. Very well-played twangy Telecaster-driven guitar pop that I have heard before more than I care to admit ( I kind of like it, so what). The Farfisa keyboard makes it stand out only so much. It’s Ben’s vocals that really set this thing apart. He is no slouch in the lyric department either (even if I only have one track to gauge this – the other is in Spanish). I noticed this before reading the liner notes that seemingly describe him with bias, arrogance, and a good dose of humor. Check out this sample of vivacious vanity describing him:
“Gentle Ben… Satorically Splendid egomaniac. The crooner, The Howler, The Nightrider, The Heartbreaker. Hits like a shit faced brickie then caresses your bruised tender flesh with long girlish fingers…outstanding!”
I personally think Ben wrote this himself, which I hardly have problem with (hell, it more-so may motivate me to hunt down the full-length product). If someone else wrote it, even more power to Ben and his band. I could only wish for my friends to talk up such a shitstorm about me and my undermentioned musical genius when my name pops up in their conversations. The band, who are only a tad less impressive, are described with similar accolades. If you want to read/hear more than I suggest you make contact and beam them up, Scotty.
