  • VARIOUS - "Get Out of My Garage, Punk! Vol. 1", 2005 (Illbilly Records)
  • If it ain't cheap, it ain't punk.

  • "Get Out of My Garage, Punk!" features exactly what you'd expect. It consists of mostly psycho punk and 60s-inspired garage rock. The disc starts off in good fashion with a straight ahead rocker by THE GRANNIES called "City By The Morgue". This is followed by a terrible song from THEE FINE LINE called "I Want You", which is basically the chords to "Wild Thing" with different (and rather unimaginative) lyrics. Track 3 is probably my favorite song on the disc, (I believe) a one-man-band called WILLIE VANILLI. It's a folk/blues style thing that features a slightly distorted steel body acoustic slide guitar and a bass drum. Other standout songs would be "Hey Baby" by THE NERVOUS SHAKES, "Gotta Move" by GOODBOYS, "Done To You" by the MALAMONDOS, "I Have Seen The Devil" by THE JET SET, "Sick Street" By THE THINGS and a nice 60's style instrumental by THE FURY...HEAT! called "Killer Nocturne In San Pedro". "Missing Buttons" by THE BLACK FOREST LOCOMOTIVE is a cool KISS-inspired punk rocker as well. Some of the songs on this compilation are downright bad, but there are enough good tunes on it to make it worthwhile. Out of the 20 songs featured on the disc I'd say I liked about 12. Most of the CDs on the Illbilly site are about $5, including this one, so check out their link above for more good 'n cheap garage punk.
