  • Thou shalt not buy this crap.

  • We are living in scary times. Our soldiers are dying everyday to line the pockets of the oil company big wigs. The constant threat of new disease epidemics have people scared to leave their homes (bird flu, anyone?) Personal freedoms are being stepped on... Now, you can add UNCLE SCRATCH'S GOSPEL REVIVAL to the list of things to be depressed about.

These guys operate under the gimmick that they are "drunken punk Pentecostals," "Bible-thumping zealots, intent on saving the sinners that make up their audience with a one two punch of rockabilly and religion" (Quotes are taken from the press release that accompanied their CD.) At no time does their act come off as more than what it is: a dumb put-on that their talentless asses can hide behind. The whole thing just reeks of desperation. Go mow some lawns, guys.

This is style over substance at it's worst. These are a bunch of poorly performed and recorded novelty songs. It sounds like "Brother Ant" and "Brother Ed" sing through megaphones, making whatever potentially entertaining lyrics they might be singing totally unintelligible. The results are more irritating than nails on a chalkboard. With everything else going on in the world, knowing that some jackass is sinking money into this utterly shitty project has shaken what little faith I had left in mankind. If you need me, my head will be in the oven.
