Has all that squeaky clean, drum trigger havin' melodic death metal got you down? If so, "Atordoar, Vol. II", a Brazilian four-band grindcore sampler, may be just what the doctor ordered. Don't speak Portuguese? No problem! The underlying message is as clear as day: these kids are fucking PISSED. Much in the tradition of LÄRM, NAPALM DEATH, BRUJERIA and their fellow countrymen RATOS DE PORÃO, each of these bands unleashes their frustration and rage in their own unique way (and anyone who knows anything about how shitty it is to live in Brazil knows exactly what they're so pissed about).

One thing I gotta give the ones who compiled this CD - they don't let the listener test the waters in the shallow end. ODIO SOCIAL, the first band, is easily the least accessible of the bunch and also has the worst sounding production. Honestly, I've never heard a friggin' bootleg that sounded this raw. The next band, LICIT, is the only band that writes English lyrics; this, of course, means that with lyrics like "Fucking cunts behind your uniform / Without their badges you're nothing / I'm gonna grind your face in / You fucking piece of shit", they're a bit more comical than they intend to be. These guys in particular remind me of "Morbid Visions" era SEPULTURA. The third band, TRASSAS, is the most impressive band musically, with the most death metal influence and the cleanest sound (though by no means is it DIMMU BORGIR). The most unique thing about this band is, despite the fact that no one listening that didn't know would be able to guess, that is actually a female doing all that manly yelling! Wow. Finally, we have SPIT BLOOD, the band that seems to be more straight-forward hardcore than the others.

Like anything distributed by Filth Ear (see my review of their website), one can safely assume that this comp is limited to a very small number of pressings. It's available for €3 from the Filth Ear website, and anybody who needs some rusted edge back in their music diet would be advised to get this while they can.
