  • It's funny to see how music comes and goes in waves. Seattle's MIDNIGHT IDOLS swears by the Paul Dianno-era MAIDEN albums mixed with some SAXON and PRIEST. Impressively, they pull it off well, showing they live and breathe this kind of music. The title track is an uptempo metal number that would fit in on the "Killers" record. The same goes for "Torch the Sky", featuring vocalist Diamond C. with a damn fine impersonation of the almighty Paul, along with some great guitar solos. "Nymphonomicon" and "Hellfire" are furious tracks with more raging solos, while "Kockstruck" suggests a hint of glam rock. This album makes perfectly clear why tribute bands featuring early MAIDEN songs can sell out shows here in Holland. There's obviously still a market for some good old NWOBHM music. MIDNIGHT IDOLS proves it can be done with heart and soul, even in this modern age. Recommended!
