I seem to recall this band being involved in the "Power Violence Sweepstakes" of yore. I think I may be right since they mention "power violence" in their list of things they incorporate into whatever. If you were lucky to have missed this stupidity, let me fill you in. Chris Barnes from MAN IS THE BASTARD refers to 3 or 4 bands (MITB, CROSSED OUT, NO COMMENT, and maybe CAPITALIST CASUALTIES or INFEST) as being "power violence" in a song about a group of bands that are all friends from the West Coast. The next thing you know, there's 60,000,000 bands trying to sound just like at least one of those bands, all claiming to play "power violence". The only problem is that it was just a made up word and, if you couldn't tell by hearing them, all those bands sounded nothing alike. It was the equivalent of naming your group of friends something silly, only to have people around the world trying to steal your thunder. Anyways, after the market was saturated that shit died the required death.
This is more like dirt rock with good vocals. It plods and noodles and sounds like music that patchouli-wearing activists would enjoy (or at the least white dudes with dreads). I dig it, but some of the songs plod a bit too much. Much like KARP that they mention in their "sounds like" section, it has its moments that are good, but some really boring stuff as well. Fans of most of the Estrus stuff will be a bit thrown since it doesn't have much of that trashy sound the label does so well. This is more for dudes with beards who read about politics. People who also listen to stuff like CLUTCH will dig this as well though. It's good stuff but I don't know if I would lose my load over it.
