  • Ken Stringfellow and Jon Auer forged a union in the late 80s, percolated in the lullabies of endlessly spinning CHEAP TRICK and HÜSKER DÜ records. By 1993, the duo was basking in critical acclaim for the monumental Don Fleming-produced power pop masterpiece "Frosting on the Beater", its crashing drums, jaunty lyrics, and candy-coated feedback squeals setting a creative peak for the genre that has yet to be toppled.

12 years and several albums later, the boys are at it again. And they've not lost their knack for buzzing guitar bits or "life is swell" lyrics. "Conversations, "All in a Day's Work", and "I Guess You're Right" all pack in more fluid harmonies and melodic pop velcro than THE RASPBERRIES playing a Chris Bell tribute night at your local speakeasy. "Last Crawl" is a hypnotic, chit-chat 'n sighs acoustic sparkler reminiscent of Stringfellow's "Soft Commands" album from last year. And "I Finally Found a Jungle I Like" is a four-chord WHO-style rocker that winks atcha with lyrics like, "All the new friends I've made might burn up in the shade, but they'll never tell me what to do." Shimmery, hip, and beyond addictive. Put that FOO FIGHTERS disc down for chrissake! Power pop just doesn't get any better than this.
