  • Smash your head on the punk rock.

  • They say single drops of water, over an extended period of time, can bore a hole through granite. It stands to reason that the battering ram pounding reverberations of hulking skin-covered kettles and pulsing steel strings, amplified to match the volume of an oncoming train, are capable of leaving a pile of scarred brain tissue quivering in agony.

The music of PA's PISSED JEANS charges like a wounded animal, repeats like an amplified dial tone, and spits heat like a blown radiator. Super-thick cinderblocks of MELVINS-approved guitar emissions throb, batter, and pound endlessly. Matt Korvette's Rollins-inspired vocal delivery conjures images of mental patients muttering and screaming at the walls. The NICK CAVE-ish piano accompaniment in "Scrapbooking" adds a little color to the staggering bass and crazed vocals. The spastic, plodding freakout of "Fantasy World" is a stream-of-consciousness ode to simple pleasures like shitty food and bad tv. Such a celebration of destroying brain cells and lashing out at boredom doesn't come along every day. This disc is worthy of your attention.
