  • This record by DOG SOLDIER is one of those cases where I just can't seem to find anything useful to write. So instead of delivering the usual background information about the band I'm reviewing I'll tell you a little something about myself. When not penning reviews for this webzine, I make my living as a music booker at a local rock venue. This means I get tons of dem's to wade through on a weekly basis. And besides lots of crappy nu-metal and post-grunge, a large majority of these consist of punk bands that all look and sound pretty much exactly like DOG SOLDIER. Which means they've got the spiked jackets and ditto hair and their music is simple, fast knuckleheaded punk occasionally bordering on heavy metal. Think what British bands like GBH and BROKEN BONES did twenty years ago and you'll get the picture. The problem with DOG SOLDIER (and much of their ilk) is that even after repeated listens I just can't seem to remember one note of the record as soon as it's over. They fit all the requirements and live this is probably a lot of fun, but for some reason I just couldn't care less. I've got the feeling I've heard this records a thousand times before only done better and you know what? I probably have! Recommended only for people who think they should own every punk record ever made.
