  • Hailing from Oregon, EPOXIES play a synth-infused pop punk style. This CD has energy, and is a good times kinda fun album on every level. The dominant synthesizer, the structure of the songs and the vocal style all point to 80s new age/ punk pop but there is something fresh, even futuristic about the band. It is confusing, as I feel like I have heard this before and yet I really do feel like I am listening to something new. The conventional punk rock instruments fuse well with the retro element and the vocals of Miss “Roxy Epoxy” are fantastic, reminding me a tad of Debbie Harry. She really does make the band stand out.

The CD does contain a cover of THE SCORPIONS “Robot man” and while many SCORPIONS fans would probably find it sacrilege, I actually prefer it to the original (the SCORPIONS were never high on my rotation list). You can pick up elements of BLONDIE, THE VAPORS, THE RAMONES, PRETTY GIRLS MAKES GRAVES, DEVO, THE BUGGLES as well as a little of the other more typical Fat Wreck Chord punk bands.

The EPOXIES are on their way up. They have just completed a tour of Japan with ME FIRST AND THE GIMMIE GIMMIES. If you don’t take your music too seriously and you are after a fun, and lively listen, check out this album. It is well worth it.
