  • IMPALED NAZARENE has celebrated their 15th anniversary by releasing this recording of a live gig they did back in December 2004. Through 15 years of drunken, violent, bloody goat-worshiping debauchery, these Finnish metal legends have become pretty much household names amongst fans of death and black metal.

Their back catalogue is quite well-represented here with tracks from their early days like “Goat Perversion”, “Sadogoat” and “Condemned to Hell” and more recent tracks from their last release like “Endless War” “Goat Seeds of Doom” and “Tribulation Hell”. With 26 songs on this cd they have managed to fit in a good sample of their catalogue (in between including 4 out of the 10 songs that the band have written with "goat" in the title). As live recordings go, this is not a bad one. The production is good even great for an extreme metal live recording. The definition between the various instruments and Sluti666’s vocals makes listening a pleasure on the ears and the lovely inner notes provide the lyrics to the songs which allows one to read along with Sluti666’s rasping reptilian vocals.

26 songs is a lot to get through and unless you are an IMPALED NAZARENE fan you could possibly find the going a bit tough. For the uninitiated listener, the distinctions between the extreme black metal and the extreme MOTÖRHEAD-driven death hardcore punk could become a bit of a blur. This blurriness could lead the newbie listener to think that every song sounds the same. Fans of the band however should find this release a treat and a great summary of what the band has achieved in the last 15 years. As for me, I’m off to find a goat.
