GHOST BRIGADE is a band that completely and absolutely exists in a multi-verse of the teeter-tottering, whirly bird Metal Hammer/Metal Maniacs loving time-scape of Euro-death metal via USA indie rock. In every drum beat crevasse there lurks a bastardized melodic gem of acoustic vs. heavy mellowness and somber as sadness rock and roll beats, making for a not-so-weird-in-these-modern-times combo of virtual planet jumping and star hopping alternative craftiness. These Finnish freaks are adamantly adept at fucking with one's head in such the style and frame of mind as super-diversity and a mega-variance. And if that's not a mouth's full, then this CD is a brain's full, unstable violins and predominate classical guitar all held accountable.
All sections bleed together in a pretty, melancholy way of life challenge, with the guitar passages and all the in between riffs bearing a massive and slightly strange common bridge that pulls this sound together into an infinite gap of seeping, weeping genres. By which I mean it actually works as a whole....kinda. You know...all moving parts stand still for the moment. Now for the personal part. I'm not sure what to think about this almost ridiculously utter overdeveloped shit. I can't stand the pseudo weighty vox on the chugging chapters because they are so amazingly generic, and within the scene this just ain't a brand new idea. The plus point is the epic singing parts that come about as a more dis-infinite ALICE IN CHAINS or a more mainstream TORCHE along with the heaviness of chords. Apparently this is the groups second album (the first being "Guided by Fire" which was released in 2007) and they've been favorably compared to KATATONIA, NOVEMBRE and ANATHEMA et al...so if you're even only barely familiar with these outfits, I'm assuming you'll dig this nonsense.
