The Baltimore post/pre/noise/punk/whatever scene continues to blossom like an eruption of mold on a package of hot dog rolls. Alongside the brain-mowing noise of DACTYL and the frenzied grind of TRIAC comes HOLLYWOOD, a doggone nutty charm city three-piece with a couple of donut-shaped slabs for your growth and professional development. This one, courtesy of Reston VA's Big Neck Records, delivers three sleazy new HOLLYWOOD tracks and artwork that will make you glad they didn't opt for a 12" sleeve.
"Momma" sounds like "Suffragette City" played through amps submerged in a giant aquarium of cough syrup. It's rude and it's wrong, but there's enough groove to get the head bobbin'. "Girl" is shambly garage slop slacker boredom (did you get all that?) You'll get lost counting all the chord changes.- there's got to be at least three...maybe four. The pressings were mostly likely financed with half an ounce and a pile of old Hustler mags. It's just convincing enough to get to the show a half hour early to check them out live. Colored vinyl and no bass player, so get a-beggin'. Don't forget one for your sister Gretel, either.
