We received this one a few months late, but it seems almost poetic. It's difficult to imagine a better audio pick for a cold, foggy October night than a HAUNTED GEORGE cd, his macabre tales of graveyards and witchy women delivered howlin'-at-the-moon style over eerie delay-soaked rockabilly licks and thumping drums. 2005's impressive "Bone Hauler" disc created quite a stir among garage rock fans (especially for a one-man-band sort of affair). This time, 'ol George has risen like a ghastly sonic apparition to demonstrate that his frightening sonic platters are still cuchty mushty.
Pardon the pun, but 'Pile O Meat" buries his previous disc in every way. The yarns are eerier, the guitar licks are more aggressive, and the tunes are memorable. George's kickdrum beats and blood raw riffs are delivered with gusto, enveloped in his raspy front-porch wails, moans and grumbles in tracks like "Swamp Witch", "Son of Satan", and "The Hangman". Be sure to check out the blistering hellish masterpiece, "My Penance". Black metal's got nothing on this guy.
