Although the album title evokes images of big hairy biker dudes belting out some grease coated, heavy as hell BLACK LABEL SOCIETY musical thuggery (well to me anyway!), this Dallas outfit actually pedal an altogether lighter, more radio friendly brand of rock music which is firmly encased in the 'indie-rock' genre although the given a bit more "oomph" than many thanks to some nice meaty, distorted rhythm work.
Surprisingly, this album had me thinking of many a UK and Irish outfit as I listened to it. "Crush" is along similar lines to mainstream U2 with it's jangly guitar lead whilst the swirling instrumentation and near buried vocals of stand out track "Seventensplit" many be a result of listening to early OASIS. The hypnotic, dreamy pop-rock of "Never Loose That Feeling", the slightly more aggressive "Beneath My Station" and the catchy "Angeldust" were others that stood out as worth recommending (though only to those of us happy to listen to the kind of guitar rock that mainstream radio don't mind playing).
All in all I'd say it's a decent album within it's realm although not exactly my cup of tea. I can't see myself returning to it often but stick these on a tour with someone like FRANZ FERDINAND and I can imagine them going down a storm, especially on the very FERDINAND-esq "The Ghost Of Duane".
