The PROZACS and the GUTS unite to present a dual platter of unambitious, melodic pop-punk on the six-song "Sticking with It." To my surprise, both bands manage to come across as charming despite the apparent cover art of a shoe stepping on gum. Simple song titles like "Connection" and "In Love" befit the simple song structures and clear lyrics, but in an era of emo overwroughtness their upbeat sincerity comes across as refreshing. Take the PROZACS' "In Love." The lyrics to "In Love" are exactly that, with the slight addition of "I'm." Yet considering all the saccharine shmaltz that's been written on the subject, I actually admire their brevity and the sweet harmonies. I generally despise love songs, but if I were to make a mixed tape for my paramour, I'd put this one on next to the similarly-inclined "La La Love You" by PIXIES. From the RAMONES-channeling "You're Not Getting It" and the catchy, GOB-bish "Shut You Up" by the PROZACS to the kiss-offs "Adios" and "It Ain't Workin' Out" by the GUTS, this is fun stuff. It won't change the world, but what the hell will?
