  • Well, this was refreshing to me. I hadn't heard BOLT THROWER since "War Master" and that's over 10 years old. Nice to see they're still around. Music wise this threw me for a loop because it has more in common with MANOWAR (minus the high vocals), post glam era PANTERA, and the mid-tempo Columbia records Earache years. Yet, I still found it enjoyable. There are some moments on here where, in the midst of a mid-tempo groove, you will be hammered to the wall by the pounding war drums and jagged, almost SLAYER like, guitar crunches and flails. If I had to do a one word review this would be summed up by "powerful". If it weren't for Jo Bench I would imagine a band like MANOWAR creating this, dressed in fur loin cloths, spitting out these heavy guttural anthems.

The odd thing is I started lifting weights again and this makes for perfect listening material. Yeah, I sit like a jock lifting away a couple of times a week. Starting small because I have a fucked up collar bone on the left, i've broken both wrists, and I broke my ulna one inch from the elbow twice (still clicks when I bend my elbow inward all the way). So, I've been pretty unable to work my forearms for years and upper arms in limited ability. Much like all those previous breaks this CD will smash you. It's a very animalistic sound and I can't help but ignore the cheeze factor to it and just let 'er rip.
