Anyone waiting for what lies beyond this whole "post" rock movement likely have a while to wait before popular tastes change. Until then, up and comers like INTRONAUT are surely enjoying their day in the sun. For fans of A.D.D. inspired prog-metal cut from the same cloth as the DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN and MASTODON, INTRONAUT is right up your alley.
This EP is an "Odds and Sods" style mix of studio and live tracks. It might seem somewhat strange that they put out such a release so early into their recording career (they have one full length disc and another EP under their belt), but these are the days of the unconventional. The live tracks do make us certain that the deft musicianship and intensity that the band shows off in the studio is no fluke and that their sound can be replicated live. So go see them next time they're in your town.
While this album is certainly listenable enough for the uninitiated, it's likely to be just the hardcore fans that rise to this challenge.
